An Instagram Ploy Backfires

Follow to Unfollow
A Deceptive Strategy
I am astounded by how many people use the Follow / Unfollow method on Instagram. As one attempts to impress others by having a large number of followers, often in the range of thousands to tens of thousands, they only deceive themselves. Instead of focusing on creating engaging content, their goal is to increase the number of followers. What happened to growing an account organically?
Just Ask: apparently an outdated approach - unfortunately.
Informal Experiment:
- 217 Follows (Includes two written requests) 100%
- 148 Unfollowed within one week (some the same day) 68.2%
- 69 Continue to Follow 31.8%
Oh, how I am tempted to call out the offenders - I do have the list.
An interesting takeaway from this is that there are accounts I like, however, now their tarnished names are embedded in my brain and eradicated from my potential desire to view and engage.
If you use this tactic - please stop - it does backfire and your integrity is lost.
