Creating New Dreams
Conquering Challenges
Discovering Alternate Possibilities
I have always traveled extensively - whether living in Paris after college, working for Bloomingdale's once relocating to New York City, or in my own business based in Atlanta, Georgia. For the past six years, I consider Chiang Mai, Thailand, to be my home. And my travels continue. Although global circumstances halt all current trips, I am fortunate to have a well-stocked inspiration tank which provokes memories and assists in creating new dreams.
Balancing home and work-life while on the road, or should I say "in the skies," has always been a challenge. Only now I have an additional consideration to add to my balancing act: an extensive therapy program. I prefer to seek out ways to regain what many may consider compromised rather than accept a new normal. Yes, I face obstacles. And while some challenges cause detours, detours are often paths to new and unexpected opportunities. I choose to focus on what I will create rather than what I may have lost. Do I stumble? Absolutely!
One may wonder why I am exposing details that a potential client might perceive as a limitation. The fact is, I do have to work harder and longer to deliver the excellence I promise. My reputation depends on the high expectations I have and the superior quality I provide.
For years I kept silent. Only those who I met and worked with face to face knew about my situation. Depending on the occasion, one might not detect my compromised physical dexterity. While I am amazed, they are perplexed.
The main reason I am exposing my current status is that I discovered that by sharing with others, I was opening the door for them to confide in me. By unveiling my unintentional - intentional secret, I was providing a space for them to reveal a hidden condition and experience freedom and acceptance.
Who does not want to be healthy and invincible? I, for one, never imagined I would face a juncture in my life that would have me alter my course. Well, I did - several times. Each jolt tested my strength and creativity.
What did I learn? That I can conquer obstacles, discover alternate possibilities, and create new dreams. I can also be a reliable confidante who listens and doesn't judge. Your secret is my secret.
